A woman was missing, but no one thought she was in trouble. She changed jobs and took a weekend off before starting the new job. The problem was she didn’t come home. Everyone - her parents, the cops, and Alan Stone’s former boss - thought she was with a boyfriend. Except she had been gone for three weeks. She didn’t call the people at the new job to tell them she wasn’t coming to work, and her car was still at her apartment. That didn’t seem like your normal woman-spending-time-with-a-boyfriend scenario.
Alan Stone was a forensic accountant, usually buried in ledgers and balance sheets, looking for white collar crimes like embezzlement. Sometimes he looked for the embezzlers who disappeared with the money, and he was good at finding people who didn’t want to be found. When his former boss asked him to look for the woman, they agreed it would be quick, maybe the easiest job Stone had ever done. This time, Stone didn’t have to prove a crime; he just had to find out where she was staying.
Stone was wrong. Very wrong.
The more Stone learned, the harder it got.

This book is mainly a mystery with a little action involved, too. The main character, Alan Stone, is a forensic accountant/detective. He is an interesting likeable person. So are his friends and other main characters. They are all well fleshed out and I feel like I know them. The story line is interesting and continuously moves along. No bogged down or boring parts. My only criticism would be that some things were explained a few too many times. Throughout the book there are tidbits of interesting information. I like learning something new even though I'm just reading a novel. I would like to spend more time with Alan Stone and friends so I'm looking forward to reading Book 2.Product details

I think this book is appropriate from teenage and up. Easy read and to understand, very exciting and impossible to put it down. I have learnt a lot too

I really enjoyed this book. It was a real page turner. I had a hard time stopping. I am so looking forward to more books by this author. A lot of suspense, drama and and some romance. I highly recommend this book. You won't be disappointed.
Excellent written story line! Keeps your attention very well! You meet Alan Stone a man of character who will stop at nothing to find answers and his friend Jeff who will keep you snickering with his smart aleck attitude and witty t-shirts. I found myself cheering them on as they piece together clues and get out of some risky situations. Each character and scene is very well detailed, you can practically envision being there. The climax of the story it is perfectly laid out! The anticipation and concern for the characters will have you forgetting you have dinner in the oven and on the edge of your seat! W. M. Scott has written an excellent action filled story leaving you craving more adventure!
